The three persons who died were:
- A 47 year old woman of Temple Town, Mount Road, Coonoor, in a private hospital in Coimbatore due to COVID-19 pneumonia,
- A 66 year old man of R K Puram in Ooty at Government Hospital Ooty due to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and COVID-19 pneumonia and
- A 70 year old woman of Anikorai at Government Hospital Ooty due to the same complaints.
Of the 87 who tested positive, as many as 28 are contacts of persons who had attended a funeral in Kannerimukku in Kotagiri taluk.
As many as 14 are contacts of persons who had come from Mettupalayam while 11 are contacts of persons coming from Coimbatore.
Six in Wellington are contacts of persons already tested positive there.
Some are likely to be shifted to other districts but the rest are contacts of persons who had already tested positive in their respective places.
